Eugenia T. Powell, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, CPHQ has over 32 years of healthcare experience in a variety of leadership roles. She is currently President and CEO of Woodmore Healthcare Consulting.
Dr. Powell is passionate about nursing and delivering high quality, culturally sensitive care to each person in need. She has successfully driven a culture of excellence and quality in community hospitals and academic medical centers. She is a national magnet appraiser with the American Nurses Association/ANCC.
Dr. Powell has demonstrated her business and leadership acumen in former roles such as Hospital Administrator, Chief Quality Officer, and Assistant Vice President of Nursing. In these positions, she strongly influenced a collaborative work style for leaders and staff, yielding very positive quality and regulatory outcomes.
In addition to Dr. Powell’s strategic and operations background, she has also been integral to the professional development of nurses and technicians through her roles as Director of Education and Research. Dr. Powell successfully created a hospital-based nursing research program focused on teaching nurses how to engage in evidence-based practice, quality improvement and research activities.
Dr. Powell believes in mentoring others, as she fully realizes the impact of role modeling and guidance. She earned a PhD/master’s degree in nursing from The Catholic University of America, and a Master’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Howard University. Dr. Powell is board certified as an advanced nurse executive and holds a certification in quality.
In addition to serving on the APIQ board, Dr. Powell also serves on the Fleet Nurse Advisory Board and is a founding member of the Black Nurse Collaborative.
